How to Fix a Sticking Throttle Cable on Craftsman Lawn Mower

    • 1). Park the lawn mower on a hard, level surface and set the parking brake. Turn the ignition key to the "Off" position. Push the throttle cable all the way forward.

    • 2). Spray a small amount of the carburetor cleaner into the throttle cable lining and wiggle the throttle cable back and forth to free the blockage from the cable. Repeat this step until the throttle cable becomes easy to move.

    • 3). Advance the throttle all the way forward and spray a small amount of multipurpose lubricant into the throttle cable lining. Wiggle the throttle cable back and forth several times. Repeat this step one to three more times until the cable is lubricated all the way through and the throttle cable moves with ease.
