A queen-size bed fits into a normal-sized bedroom, while providing more comfort than a double- or full-size bed, and without compromising floor space. This is the most popular mattress size, and is perfect for couples who share beds regularly, or for adults who like to sprawl while they sleep. Manufacturers sometimes produce "Olympic" queen-size beds, which are 6 inches wider than a standard queen, and something to consider when purchasing bedding. - A queen-size mattress frame is 60 inches wide by 80 inches long. The size is designed to provide 30 inches by 80 inches of space for each of two adults. Queen-size beds are 6 inches wider and 5 inches longer than full-size beds, and 21 inches wider and 5 inches longer than twin-size beds.
- A fitted sheet for a queen-size mattress is 60 inches wide by 80 inches long. A flat sheet is 90 inches wide by 102 inches long, and a comforter is 86 inches wide by 86 inches long. Longer and wider sheet and comforter lengths allows the linens to cover the top and sides of the mattress, and accounts for the size of two adults, so that they are entirely covered.
- Queen-size beds are slightly larger than double beds, making them more comfortable for two adults, but the 30 inches of width may not be enough for some couples, as it's only 3 inches more space per adult than a double. Queen-size bedding, like comforters and sheets, is less expensive than that for a king-size. But queen-size bedding is frequently sold in packages that are useful for full- and queen-size beds. This bedding fits a queen-size bed imperfectly, and its dimensions must be verified before purchasing.
