- 1). Contact your carrier to check if your cell-phone plan allows you to send international text messages. Some carriers also require customers to activate this function by calling their help desk.
- 2). Compose your text message as you would compose a domestic one.
- 3). Identify the country code of your contact, using the link provided in the Resources section of this article.
- 4). Type in the phone number of your contact in the "To:" field of your cell phone's text message editor. Enter a "+" symbol, followed by the country code. Then type in the actual phone number of your contact without the initial "0." For example, if you want to send a text message to a French contact, you should type in "+33" followed by his phone number, without the first "0."
- 5). Press the "Send" button to send your text message.
