Changing Color Overlay in Photoshop

You can easily change the color of a layer style in Photoshop using the color overlay layer effect.
To change the color of the grunge layer style effect, or another layer style, first double click on the "Color Overlay" line in the layers panel, under the layer you wish to modify. If the effects are not showing, click the small arrow next to the fx icon on the layers panel to show them expanded. (see next page)

The Layer Style dialog will open, with the Color Overlay section showing. Click on the color swatch for the Color Overlay and choose a new color. The document will update as you choose color so you can get it precisely the color you want.

You can easily change the color of a layer style in Photoshop using a hue/saturation adjustment.
In the layers panel, click the button for a new adjustment layer, then choose Hue/Saturation from the menu. In the Hue/Saturation panel or dialog box, tick the "Colorize" box, and then adjust the hue, saturation, and lightness sliders to get the color you want. The document will update as you move the sliders, so you can see what you are going to get before accepting the change.

If you decide to change the color layer, simply double-click on the Hue/Saturation adjustment layer in the layers panel to change it as many time as needed.
