- 1). Connect the tethering compatible SmartPhone or PDA to the computer via USB cable.
- 2). Open the "Start" menu, type "Network and Sharing Center" in the search field and click on the link in the results pane.
- 3). Click on "Setup a Connection or Network" and choose to "Setup a Dial Up Connection."
- 4). Fill out the required information to create the new network profile. The information may be obtained from your cellular service provider or the Internet from a site such as Ross Barkman's GPRS Info Page (see Resources). Type a name for the new profile and click "Save."
- 5). Double-click on the new profile to open the dialog window and click "Dial." Once the connection is established, open an Internet browser and browse the web as usual.
- 1). Insert the USB modem into one of the USB ports on the computer.
- 2). Insert the installation CD into the disk drive and launch the setup utility if it does not automatically begin.
- 3). Follow the onscreen instructions to install the USB modem device and configure the connection options.
- 4). Launch the connection application for your device from the "Start" menu or the desktop icon.
- 5). Press "Connect" and wait for the USB modem to connect to the cellular network. Open an Internet browser to surf the web as usual.
