What"s Best in Egypt? Pyramids of Course!

For ages, pyramids were the largest man-made structures on Earth.
Even today, people who have seen these colossal structures say that it is worth traveling half way across the globe to stand in front of these architectural masterpieces.
These structures look somewhat simple in some pictures.
But only when one stands in front of a pyramid that one begins to appreciate the ability of the ancient Egyptians who built the stupendous monuments without using the machines that engineers and architects use even while making simple houses.
These great monuments were made to remind the people of the might and power of the grand pharaohs who ruled Egypt.
Pyramids house the remains of the pharaohs and other members of royal families.
The ancient Egyptians believed that the souls of humans survived even after death and needed the things that they used while they were alive.
So they built these structures to preserve the mummified bodies of dead people.
Along with the bodies, clothes, jewels, and other items were also preserved.
What is surprising is that the bodies have actually survived for centuries in the middle of a desert.
The famous Great Pyramid of Giza is said to have been built by King Khufu.
Of the many Egyptian pyramids that were built over a period of a thousand years, this is the biggest.
It is considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World and is the only wonder that survives for us today.
Since it is more that 450 feet tall it towers over all other structures in the neighborhood.
Experts say that 2.
3 million blocks of limestone were used to build the structure.
The fact that it is located in a desert enables visitors to look at the entire structure from a distance because it is too large to be completely seen when one is close to it.
Earlier people used to say that the Egyptian pyramids were built with slave labor.
Recently historians have discovered tombs of the builders near the royal pyramids.
The fact that the tombs are located so close to the pyramids of the kings shows that the builders were actually not slaves because slaves would not be allowed to be buried so close to the rulers.
If you want to see something that you will never forget for the rest of your life, go to Egypt.
Pyramids will surely take your breath away!
