Making Gold in Cataclysm

With the release of Cataclysm many players will return to the world of Azeroth to explore the damages that have been done to both the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. Without a doubt this patch has totally changed how the game has looked from start to finish and added a few things that have been missing for a while. When you add on the fact that they added a couple more races and you can see how this expansion is going to be the best yet. But with new content comes new things to spend your money on, so here is a short and sweet guide to give you some solid ideas to help you rake in the gold.

For starters, you will be seeing an abundance of people leveling various crafting skills in the first few months. What this creates is a huge demand for the various crafting items that are going to be added to the game and gives you a huge opportunity.

A friend of mine gave me this solid idea back in the first few weeks of Wrath, and that is to find a mid level mining node and just camp the crap out of it. Ideally this will be a safe point, but combat can help you pass the time a little better. What he did was simply sit in one spot and watch TV while at his computer. When he noticed that the mining node was up, he would hit it and go back to TV.

He was a little more patient than most people, but he managed to amass about 30k gold in the first week by simply giving up on leveling during the horrible early adapter push. From that little push he was 80 about a week later than everyone else, but he was one of the best geared the moment he finally hit 80. For him it was an easy trade, though you may think differently.

My method to making a sick amount of gold is a little more active. I work a seasonal job, so I have the ability to play for a sick amount of time in the winter months. Since Blizzard is fond of releasing WoW expansions in the winter, it allows me a unique scenario. I will spend the first month leveling multiple characters to the level cap to make money. This may sound counter productive, but you have to have an open mind.

I should explain first, that gear has no bearing to this method. While I will be leveling my main to 85 first to make sure she is nice and ready to raid, the others are less worried about gear and more on the money you make by questing. I am an amazing leveler and have found ways to level much more quickly than most people are able to, so in the amount of time it takes the average person to level 10 levels, I can do two characters or more during that time. In wrath I had 3 at the level cap before most people had one. This isn't to brag but to explain a point.

Knowing that there are people aiming to hit the level cap in the trade skills quickly, I simply sell off the materials I get leveling and simply wait it out a little while before jumping headlong into the fray myself. The only exception I will make is with enchanting, but only to the point that I can shard any drop I get. After that, it can wait.

It was not uncommon for me to make 7 or 8 thousand gold in the time it took to level in wrath per character. I would buy alternate characters a fast flying mount and still have 3k to show for it. You don't have to be crazy like me and do this 7 times either. A couple extra will make a mile of difference in your gold hoarding.

Additional types can be found on my website where I always recommend gamers to look at the New Zygor guides that just came out on March 22. Visit my website for more information.
