- 1). Trace the outline of the umbrella stencil onto a piece of cardstock paper. Add a 2-inch-long and 1/2-inch-wide tab at the top of the umbrella. Add 2-by-1/2-inch tabs to either side of the bottom of the umbrella as well. Add one final 2-by-1/4-inch tab below the handle of the umbrella.
- 2). Cut out the umbrella and tabs.
- 3). Fold the top tab down where it connects to the umbrella, and at the 1-inch mark. Fold the side tabs at the same place. Fold the bottom tab where it meets at the handle only.
- 4). Add a small strip of double-sided tape to the end folds of the top and side pieces and to the bottom piece. Position the card so it opens up, rather than from the side. Fit the top tabs to the top side of the card. Fit the bottom tab to the bottom side of the card. Press all tape firmly in place when positioned correctly.
- 5). Fold the top of the card down carefully so you do not crush the umbrella. Open the card, and the umbrella should pop up. Decorate the inside and front of the card as desired. Use words with a rain theme, such as "showering you with love," "come to a baby shower" or "showers of thanks."
