  If you have ever strolled through a craft show, rummage sale or country-themed shop, you know that country crafts come in all shapes, sizes, styles and materials. From furniture finished or painted to look old to quilts designed to keep you warm on chilly nights or hung on the wall as art, country crafts run the gamut of prices and styles. Since the advent of such magazines as "Country Living," country crafts have become more than hobbies. In some cases they have become big business.

  Craft shows can pop up anywhere from your local church to the nearest convention center. Many crafters move from venue to venue selling their wares and some shows are by invitation only. Craft shows feature a myriad of choices from woodworking to needle point. With a little investigation, you're sure to find just what you're looking for to perk up any room in your country-style home.
  
  

Woodworking

  Country crafts fashioned from wood include: furniture reproductions with primitive finishes designed to make the piece look old; mirrors framed in hand-finished wood; miniature animals mounted on posts to replicate weather vanes; and, decoys and folk art, such as wooden Christmas ornaments. Grace your mantle with a realistic carved goose, or invest in a primitive cupboard with a distressed finish.

  Looking for something to coordinate with the chintz flower design on your English country-style over- stuffed couch? An embroidered pillow featuring roses or a hand-crafted afghan may meet your needs. Maybe your bedroom needs a bit of country spirit. A hand-sewn quilt might be the solution.
