The citizens of Bangalore lead a pretty hectic life.
They are an intellectual breed and can work like a computer from Monday-Friday, something which I would never be able to do (that's lazy me!) So, they are doing no sin when they are taking a weekend break or trying to scuttle off to some nearby destination where they can spend a happy day! There are a number of places to visit around Bangalore since this entire region is heavily enveloped with natural beauty.
One such place which triggers happy thoughts without much effort is the Bannerghatta National Park.
Now, who does not love wildlife excursions? You can blame our wildlife icons like Steve Irwin and Jeff Corwin for the same, but it is no wonder that the youths of today feel closer at home when in jungles and when amidst a growling cat or a sun-bathing croc! Bannerghatta is one of the best wildlife parks in the country and is the favorite getaway for the Bangaloerans! It is a park which is looked after very well by the authorities and is the address of many cats (including leopards and tigers), reptiles (including snakes and crocodiles) and other heartening animals like the raucous monkeys or the stupidly quiet deer or the boring bisons! And yes, there are plenty of birds which will showcase their singing powers for free of cost.
If wildlife park is not your cup of tea or in case you have already checked this attraction plenty of times, then you may consider hopping over to the Nandi Hills.
It is a hillside getaway and can be visited round the year.
It encompasses natural beauty and is known for its serenity and greenery.
Bheemeshwari is another place which has been catching the eye of the tourists for quite some time.
It is another forest-enveloped hillside region where you can catch up with some waterfalls and wildlife.
There is also some scope for those leisurely outdoor activities like trekking, fishing and camping.
Namada Chilume and Devarayana Durga are other popular tourist places near Bangalore.
Most of these places are a small distance away from the city and can be reached by a private car or cab or by a public vehicle in just 2-3 hours.
Alternatively, if you do not wish to step outside your homely perimeter, then you can also spend the day in the city at many of its popular hangout corners.
Cubbon Park, Lal Bagh, Vidhan Soudha and Tipu Sultan Palace are some of the top places to visit in Bangalore.
They can be revisited, just for the sake of those good, old times!
