Aspirus Wausau Hospital: Grants

• The Aspirus Health Foundation, which operates in connection with the Aspirus Wausau Hospital, funds grants to health care related projects, research and organizations serving the Wausau and surrounding areas. Past Aspirus Health Foundation grant recipients have included the CaRE Foundation for Cardiovascular research, the newborn intensive care unit at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Rainbow's End Day Camp for special needs children, and Wausau Area Mobile Meals. City of Wausau Community Development Block Grant

• The City of Wausau participates in the federally funded community development program that serves lower-income communities through its Community Development Block Grant Program. Each year, the funds available vary, but in past years have reached more than $500,000. Projects that qualify for consideration of this grant include building or upgrading housing and businesses to improve living and business conditions in the region. Wausau School Foundation Reach for the Stars Grant

• The nonprofit Wausau School Foundation works to support the local public schools, in part by awarding grants to fund projects and educational opportunities not otherwise paid for by the school districts. Past grants have been awarded to individual teachers and classrooms to provide extracurricular education in biology, technology, math and cooking classes as well as various teacher trainings. Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin

• The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin offers several grants to be used in the region including in Wausau. These include the Wausau-Marathon County Fund, which provides money for a wide range of community projects from arts to health services, and the Beyond Pencils & Crayons Grants, in which funds are given directly to primary school teachers as a resource to allow them to improve on the standard curriculum.
