Babies outgrow everything very quickly and since you're looking to save money, a garage sale is the answer for barely used baby clothing and any other type of items you need for your growing kids.
Skip the Birthing Classes.
Most parents-to-be will attend baby classes that teach them everything from giving birth to how to hold a baby.
Before spending big bucks on only a two-week class, check your local library, hospitals or city for classes.
They often offer the same classes, year round and some are absolutely free.
You can also take the time to check out books from your library that teach about those things.
Electronic Birth Announcements.
Save bundles of money on printing costs and postage stamps by designing your own announcement and sending it through e-mail.
With an electronic birth announcement, you can also download photos of your precious newborn, which is what people want to see anyway.
Hit the Garage Sales.
Babies outgrow everything very quickly and since you're looking to save money, a garage sale is the answer for barely used baby items.
Another great way to save money is to purchase maternity clothes and barely used baby clothes and/or supplies from thrift stores, garage sales and consignment shops.
Skip the Extras.
Do you really need to spend $30 bucks on something to hold your diapers for you? Or what about the hooded towel for your 1-year-old? A regular towel will do just fine and the package your diapers came in will do just fine tucked in a closet.
The U-shaped pillow for supporting a baby's neck can easily be replaced by simply rolling up a blanket.
Save money by purchasing a dresser that can be transformed into a changing table when needed.
Too many fancy crib toys are a waste because the baby is most likely too involved taking in the world around them.
Bassinets are pretty, but after only three months, it's time to invest in something else.
Try to borrow a swing if that's what your baby likes.
Swings are only used in the first four months or so; so don't spend the money.
It's important to decide what items you truly need and what you can do without.
Used Sheets.
If you're handy with a sewing machine, take your old sheets and size them down to make baby sheets to fit the crib.
Not only are you saving money but also the sheets will already be soft for your baby.
This is also a good way to recycle.
Themed Nurseries.
Try to stay away from a themed baby room and you will save lots of money in the end.
This limits your option of hand-me-downs and in five years, your child will be embarrassed to bring his friends over to see his bunny room.
You will be forced to redecorate quickly, which can be expensive.
Share One Car Seat.
Most likely, each parent has their own car and they often need to share in transporting the baby from place to place.
Save money by purchasing only one car seat and two bases that the car seat sits on.
Caution: The investment in a brand new car seat is priceless, considering your baby's safety.
Diapers.
Cloth diapers are always your best choice for saving money.
However, if you have a friend who works at a hospital or pharmacy, see if they can purchase cases of disposable diapers at extremely low prices.
They are usually cheaper than cloth diapers!
