- 1). Cover the area where you intend to work with drop cloth and place the table over the drop cloth.
- 2). Apply a base coat of latex paint using a roller or, for smaller areas, a brush.
- 3). Allow the base coat to dry overnight.
- 4). Apply the crackle paint over the base coat with a brush or roller.
- 5). Wait 30 to 60 minutes for the paint to become nearly dry. It is important not to let it dry completely. You can touch the surface to check or look for any glistening moisture on the coat of paint.
- 6). Apply another coat of latex paint using a brush or sponge. The brush and sponge create the texture in the paint that, when completely dry, forms the cracks.
- 7). Wait for the top coat of latex paint to dry.
