Are you an avid gardener? Are you having trouble finding an area to grow your plants outside? Maybe you live in an apartment and do not have any ground available to use so that you can be an outdoor gardener.
Then indoor hydroponics may be the answer to your problem.
We need to fact the fact that growing plants outdoors does not work well in many areas of our country even if we do have the space for it.
Some places are just too wet - rain, rain, rain.
Other places are so hot and dry that you have to be a succulent to survive.
That certainly does not include tomatoes! And other areas have such a short growing season that you barely get the tomato planted and the snow returns.
Growing your plants indoors with the hydroponic system will avoid all of those issues.
You will not need to worry about the amount of rain or sun, the quality of your soil, or even the possible pests who like to munch on your plants.
All of that is eliminated when you choose indoor hydroponics.
Growing your plants indoors will require a little bit more knowledge but this can be learned easily.
Much information is available on how to set up and maintain your own hydroponic garden.
Here are some of the basics that you need to know.
Since hydroponics does not use soil, you will need to get a growing medium and a nutrient pack which can be dissolved in water.
This nutrient solution is absorbed directly into the roots.
This is why you will be able to eliminate the need for soil.
Next you will need to find a space to grow your plants.
You can grow your garden in buckets, in grow pots, an aquarium, a stand designed specifically for indoor hydroponics or you can even use your bathtub.
The one important thing to remember is that the sides of your containers must be opaque.
So if you have decided on that glass aquarium, please get some black spray paint and paint the sides.
This will block out the light and keep algae from growing in the containers.
Since your plants will be growing indoors, you will not have the advantage of natural sunlight, so you will need to buy some lights.
The most commonly used are High Pressure Sodium, Metal Halide, or fluorescent.
These lights will mimic the sun so that your plants will grow well.
Hydroponic kits are available for purchase as well as the supplies needed to make your own indoor hydroponic garden.
