    • 1). Stock up on banana's. Because lack of potassium in the diet is believed to result in leg cramps, it is suggested that persons with leg cramps eat bananas. Bananas are extremely rich in calcium, but are relatively high caloric, so overweight persons should stop at one banana a day.

    • 5). Treat leg cramps with gingko biloba. Gingko biloba is an herbal remedy that is effective when leg cramps are caused by poor circulation, as in peripheral artery disease of the legs. This herb opens up the arteries and stimulates blood flow to the legs.

    • 6). Alleviate leg cramps with ginger herbal tea. Ginger is another herbal cure for leg cramps when the issue is poor circulation. Drinking ginger tea helps activate the circulatory system.
