Hello everybody, Kevin Smith here, Mr. TubaLove, talking to you about the mouthpiece. This is the mouthpiece of a tuba. They're more or less the same size. Differences in diameter to some degree. But this is an absolutely critical part of the tuba. Without it you really can't play a brass instrument because this is all you've got. But, put this in. Feeling just a little turn, very softly. Now you've got a nice round sound coming out of the tuba. Without that as I've already demonstrated, you have what sounds like a rather sick duck. There's two primary types of mouthpieces in terms of construction. If you see, this one's got that rather thick cup around there. And there are others that are made with only probably only a third of that much thickness in the mouthpiece. And again, there's arguments between people as to which is better. Again, it's whatever suits your purposes. I like this kind of a mouthpiece because it gives me more resiliency for faster playing. People like the flatter mouthpieces for a lot. They think that here's the mouth of the mouthpiece better if they're doing a lot of long tones and that kind of stuff. But again, it's whatever you play that you like. So this is a tuba mouthpiece. It can be used for other things too, but mostly it should be used to play the tuba.
