Web Development Languages

Getting a website built these days has become more complex and intricate then ever before. There are so many different options to choose. This includes to create a custom made website or using third party software, what language to build website with, and finally figuring out what to include in the website. The most important part is to decide what language to use. Below I will name some of the most popular languages and when to use it based on your type of website.

PHP - PHP is designed specifically for server-side programming, which means that its library is specialized for the tasks you'll be doing over and over again in the course of programming your website. PHP also has the advantage of being able to interweave code with HTML.

ASP.NET - ASP.NET framework simplify development by separating the application logic and presentation logic making it easier to maintain the code.

HTML5 - HTML5 is the future of web language because it converts to mobile applications very easily. This is what most people will use very soon.

As you can see there are many different languages out there to use. Each with its advantages and disadvantages. There are also languages that I did not mention that can also be used. I only listed the most popular ones. The most important thing to remember is what the developer can do with each language. If he is an expert at ASP.Net then he will most likely be able to do everything that is needed in that code. Same for someone in PHP. However if they are not an expert in the language there will be some limitations that they can achieve. At the end of the day I would do my due diligence with any company you decide to use. Get references, see there past work, and meet them in person to get a good feeling about them. Also ask them questions about what programming language they are experts in. In general most companies are not experts in every language and they usually have one or two languages they use that they are most comfortable with and have the most knowledge. I would ask them what it will be built with in order to find out what kind of server you'll need to have and other functionality the website will have. I hope this gives you a brief understanding about the web development process and its languages. If you would want to find out more information you can always search in google which has a lot of information.
