I get this question all the time. I work for a lead generation company, so I am very familiar with what works and what doesn't in the MLM/Network Marketing industry. The best leads, no question, are warm market leads. Whether you like to admit it or not, sales success is relationship based, and warm leads already have a relationship with you, or someone you know.

When your warm market is not available, that's when it is very important to look to other ways of exposing your business and tapping into other people's warm markets. So, what are the next best leads?

In my experience, the next best leads are Real Time leads. What this means is that a person has filled out a form online because they are interested in learning more about a business opportunity. The lead is delivered the second the person hits the "Submit" button, meaning they are interested now and they should be contacted while their interest is at its highest point. If there is an option to redirect a lead to your website, I would highly recommend doing that, since the person will be engaged on your business opportunity and may have an idea and excitement about your opportunity when you call them. Conversion rates for these leads tend to be higher than aged, or non-redirected leads.

There are a lot of programs in the industry that claim to teach you how to generate your own leads. This can be very distracting in your business, not to mention expensive and time consuming. I would suggest getting something started, by writing articles, starting a blog and/or website, but not waste too much time trying to learn how to generate leads. Quite frankly, that is a whole other business in itself. Set goals and talk to as many people as you can during the time you set aside to work on your business.

With any leads, training and support are huge factors in converting your leads into your business, as a member or a customer. I recommend practicing on your warm market first, before investing in internet leads. The more you are talking about your business, the better you will be at converting people into your opportunity. Go get 'em!
