- 1). Join up with a friend who has not done the Shield of Arrav quest yet. Each of you must start the quest, then join the opposite gang in order to complete the quest.
- 2). Speak to Reldo, a man located in the Varrock Library. You can find the Library on the back side of the castle in Varrock.
- 3). Search the bookcase in the Library that contains the blue-and-white book entitled "Shield of Arrav" and read it.
- 4). Choose either the Phoenix Gang or the Black Arm Gang. Make sure your partner chooses the opposite gang.
- 1). Talk to Baraek, located in the Varrock Square and pay him 20 gold for information on how to join the Phoenix Gang.
- 2). Go to the Phoenix Gang's headquarters located in the basement of one of the houses close to the Southern Gate of Varrock.
- 3). Talk to a man name Straven. He will request that you get an Intelligence Report from a man named Johnny the Beard.
- 4). Go to the Blue Moon Inn and defeat Johnny the Beard to get the Intelligence Report.
- 5). Take the report to Straven. He will let you join the Phoenix Gang and give you the Weapon Store Key.
- 6). Enter the hideout to find a treasure chest located in the southwest area of the building. Inside the chest is one half of the shield.
- 7). Exit the building and go to the farthest door on east side of the Phoenix Gang hideout.
- 8). Use the key to open the door, then climb the ladder to enter the weapons-storage room.
- 9). Take the two Phoenix Crossbows from the room.

Exit the building and give your partner the two Phoenix Crossbows. - 1). Talk to Charlie the Tramp who is located in the southwest area of Varrock. Ask him if there is something down the alley and he will tell you that the Black Arm Gang is hiding there.
- 2). Go into the house down the alley and ask Katrine about joining the Black Arm Gang. She will ask you to steal two Phoenix Crossbows from the Phoenix Gang.
- 3). Meet your partner and trade to get the two Phoenix Crossbows.
- 4). Give the two Phoenix Crossbows to Katrine. She will let you enter the Black Arm Gang hideout.
- 5). Enter the hideout to find a treasure chest located just up the stairs. Inside the chest is the other half of the shield.
- 1). Take both pieces of the shield to the museum in Varrock and give them to the Curator. He will give each player two pieces of a certificate.
- 2). Trade one of the certificate pieces to your partner and take one of his in exchange. This will make a whole certificate.
- 3). Take the certificate to King Roald in the castle to complete the quest.
