Polk County Science Building Esplanade, 1958

Frank Lloyd Wright pioneered the use of aluminium for decorative purposes when he designed the walkway at the Polk County Science Building.

The columns along the Polk County Science Building esplanade are made of aluminum. This marks the first time aluminum had been used as a decorative element in architecture.
