Top Five Places to Visit When in Mallorca

First in our top five places to visit in Mallorca is the capital Palma formally known as Palma de Mallorca. It is the main sea port on the island. Palma's airport Son Sant Joan serves over 22 million people a year. The number of visitors has progressively risen each year since the early sixty's and the number of people living in Palma has also grown to fulfill the needs of the tourist of whom provide eighty percent of the islands income. Palma has a varied background and has had many rulers in the past so there are many historic places to visit during your stay. Do not forget the Catedral de Palma de Mallorca, situated on the Placa de L'Almoina.

Number two of five is the royal palace. Marivent palace where the Spanish royal family traditionally spends the summer. Surrounded by gardens and parks, it is a great place to take the family and spend time looking around this historic place. Now is a great time to purchase those all important souvenirs and post cars.

Number three on our top five is Alcudia a wonderful sea side resort situated on the north side of the Island sixty two kilometers away from Palma. The old town of Alcudia is a few kilometers in land. Parts of Alcudia date back to the 1300's and a two hour guided tour is offered around the old walls. Along the northern cast road is where you will find the hotels along the 8km of sandy beach.

Number four on or top five is the holiday resort Camp de Mar. This is situated in the far south west corner of Mallorca, only 23k away from the airport. Camp de Mar is not frequented by a lot of English or European as the main tour operators don't really offer this as package holiday destination. It may be a cheaper alternative for those who would like to take the journey themselves and find a vacant room upon their arrival.

Number five of our top five is Cala San Vincente - the smallest resort. It is located on the North West coast of the island. It is a sixty kilometer journey. This is one of the richest areas of the Island but still holds on to its heritage. You can still see the fishermen repairing their nets on the beach like they have done for centuries next to the holiday makers sunbathing. It is only fair to mention this seems to be a destination for the more mature holiday maker as it is a quiet place with no night clubs but an abundance of restaurants and cafes with live music. It is especially good for fresh fish and eating local produce.

Mallorca has so much to offer and can cater for all age groups. Whatever your interest is like wind surfing, scuba diving, walking, fishing etc. Mallorca has it all. You just have to look on the Nemours web sites and visit forums for all the information.
