If you are a teenager and you are about to take your driving test, you certainly have a lot of stresses in your life.
You need to study for the test and pass it, you need to learn to be comfortable driving on the freeway, on crowded streets, know how to parallel park, and know how to back up without hitting anyone.
You also need to know how to text on your phone, change your CD player, and drink a beverage all while navigating the busy roads.
One other thing that should also be on your mind is getting your first car insurance policy.
If you are lucky, you have parents that will take you under their wing and put you on their auto insurance policy, but for some kids, that is not always the case.
It is, after all, the best and cheapest way to get your first car insurance policy, but if your parents don't trust you, or if you don't live with them, that can be difficult.
You can still get your own auto insurance policy though, as long as your driving record is clean, you have gone through the mandatory driving lessons, and passed your test.
Once you have done this, you will need your driver's license, a checking account (from which to pay the bill), and some kind of ATM card that can be used as a credit card for payment.
Because you may have no credit record established yet, the auto insurance companies may charge you extra, but that will reduce over time if you keep your nose clean and stay out of traffic court.
The real key to getting a good price on your insurance when you are young is to get a car that is cheap to insure.
Many websites have lists of these cars as well as cars that you should avoid driving because they are often stolen.
