Florida offers one of the most diverse collections of plants, sea- and swamp-scapes, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds in the United States, much to a photographer's delight. Florida also offers a wide range of photography tours that skim enthusiasts across the coasts of the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico or lead them deep into the shady Everglades. - Jason Hahn Photography hosts several workshop tours, including the "Into the Everglades" Nature Photography Workshop. The tour will lead photographers deep into the western Everglades, the "largest remaining subtropical wilderness in the U.S.," according to Hahn's site. The workshop is led by nature photographer Jason Hahn and Everglades Area Tours and involves boating, kayaking and swamp hiking to explore beyond the "places you can see by the side of the road." The tour is a three-day package of photography, instruction and exploration, with lodging, meals and transportation included. There is a six to one student-teacher ratio, and no experience is necessary for kayaking. Exertion is minimal.

jasonhahn.com - J. Michael Wilhelm, a Florida nature photographer of 30 years, leads tours by land or by boat from Punta Gorda, midway between Tampa and Naples. Charlotte Harbor, on Florida's west coast, offers views of sunrises and sunsets, mangrove trees, birds, the large White Pelican in winter and sand flats at low tides.
Boat tours, limited to two photographers at a time, take place on full days in Wilhelm's 17-ft. Blue Wave outboard boat, outfitted with dry-storage lockers for equipment. Both land and boat tours take bird-lovers within camera range of Great Blue Herons, Cattle Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Wood Storks and more, with vibrant plumage on parade during mating season. Tours run from one to three days.
