- 1). Determine the strongest section of the roof and the best place to add the air condition too. You may want to contact the manufacturer directly to obtain advice on the weight the roof and crank system can sustain.
- 2). Place the mounting template on the roof of the camper and trace the lines where the holes for the mounting bolts and the cut out for the internal controls are to be located.
- 3). Drill out the holes for the mounting bolts and use a jig saw to cut the roof section where the air conditioner with be placed. Position the air conditioner in the cut out and install the bolts from inside the camper to secure the air conditioning unit in place.
- 4). Connect the electrical wires into the DC converter in your trailer or simply plug the air conditioner into an outlet if your make and model of air conditioner is equipped with an electrical plug.
- 5). Apply a bead of silicone sealant around the cut areas on the outside of the camper roof. Be sure to seal all the areas that were cut and drilled. The silicone will not only prevent air from escaping it will also stop water from leaking into your camper. Inspect the area after your first rain shower to ensure you have sealed the entire area.
- 6). Attach any internal vents or covers to the air conditioner, close the windows, turn the air conditioner on and you can enjoy your camper even on the hottest day of the year.
