How to Improve Your Relationship With Your Grandchildren

So you are a grandparent that loves your grandchildren very much.
But your relationship with your grandchildren is not what you would like it to be.
Here are some things you can do to improve your relationship with your grandchildren.
The first thing you can do is communicate often with your grandchildren.
How you do this will depend on how close you live to them.
If you live close, you can visit them regularly.
However, you do not want to visit more than they want you to.
If your grandchildren live farther away than you care to travel often, then write to them and call them on the phone.
When talking with your grandchildren be sure to listen to what they say.
Let them know what they say and do is important to you.
Let your grandchildren know that you love them.
Tell them.
Show them by asking them about what they are interested in.
If they do not tell you or show you that they love you, do not stop showing them your love.
They love you but they may just be shy.
Try to attend as many of the important events in their lives as possible.
Your grandchildren will have birthday parties, school programs, sporting events that your presence at will mean a lot to them.
When you are at these events be sure to honestly praise them and let them know how much you enjoyed being there.
Share your knowledge and talents with your grandchildren.
You may be an excellent cook.
If so you might invite them over to help you cook a meal.
Then you can share the secrets of being a great cook with them.
Or if they have trouble with school work that you are knowledgeable about, you could work with them on it.
If you are athletic, offer to teach them some of the skills you have.
Tell your grandchildren about the history of their family.
Share stories about your parents and their parents with them.
Let them know how alike or different they are from their ancestors.
Be sure they know you are very glad that they are a part of your family.
Remember that your grandchildren are children.
Do not expect them to be adults.
You must not be too critical of them, if they make mistakes in their lives.
Let them know you love them regardless of what they may do or do not do.
When your grandchildren realize how much you care for them, your relationship with them will be outstanding.
