Camping Trip Luxuries - Top 5 Luxuries To Make A Home From Home

For some reason people have this view that campers are a hardy folk who don't mind a bit of discomfort or even welcome it.
The truth is that campers welcome a bit of luxury into their lives and are very resourceful about it.
Lets be honest you are going on holiday, any other holiday you expect comfort, so why should it be any different on a camping holiday? I have been camping for many years and tried and tested various different methods of making the trip more luxurious, some have worked and some unfortunately have not, hear are my top five;
  1. Coffeemaker.
There are many specific camping coffeemakers these days, which to be fair are okay.
But you can have a better cup of coffee at a cheaper price than paying out for the latest camping coffeemaker gizmo.
By coffeemaker of choice for camping is a cafetiere.
My only advice would be to take a plastic one as quite often cafetiere are made from glass and are better suited for the home in this case.
All you need is some ground coffee and boiling water and you have a wonderful coffee.
  2. Candles.
Come the night-time there is nothing more wonderful than lighting some candles and having a glass of wine or a game of cards.
You can choose to do this inside of your tent or outside on your camping table.
If you choose to do inside you must exercise caution, there are special candle holders available for this inside tents.
My choice is to use candles outside.
  3. Telescope.
This is such a great opportunity to see the stars.
If you live in the city then it is unlikely you ever get to see any stars.
When camping you can really take advantage of this and stargaze away to your hearts content.
This is especially great fun for kids.
  4. Rugs.
You may be thinking I am a bit mad here but by taking along a sheepskin rug for the middle compartment of your tent this will totally transform your tent and make it much more homely.
  5. Cake.
In this day and age you can cook many things over a good camping stove but not a cake.
If you like a cup of tea after your lunch and a slice of cake then bake one and bring it with you.
I am British and I guess you could say tea and cake is a very British pastime.
Nevertheless if you are camping with children this really is a home from home with a homemade fruitcake.
A little luxury can go a long way when you are camping, especially if you are camping with young children as they are used to routines.
By bringing some home comforts on your camping trip you are setting yourself up to a flying start.
