Mantra Music For Meditation

According to Hindu mythology and mysticism, a mantra is a physically existing speech, which has an effect on almost all physical body including mind, body, emotions and everything in this cosmos. The word meaning of mantra would be an instrument of thought.

During the Vedic period in India, the mantras were originated by saints and priest who said that it was directly inherited upon by god and these speeches were transmitted upon them directly by the almighty.

Theses verses in sacred scriptures of Hinduism, express oneness as the repeatedly used one word mantra called "AUM". And there are still many mantras and tantras which are performed and recited with special stress on some words or places. These stress and expressions create a unique music like inspiration.

According to Hindu mythology everything in this cosmos has a name. Thus, every word, every stress and every thing that otherwise have no name; has a name in Hinduism. In view of that, everything in the universe has a physical existence. Even words and mantras are physically existing entities. So, when one recites a mantra, he is creating an effect to the physically existing mantra. Thus, each uttering or recitation has its unique meaning and distinctness among anything else.

Accordingly, if you study the Upanishads of Hindu mythology, you will also have a chance to learn that the universe as a whole is mere sound. Everything that has a physical existence is just the result of illusionary sound.

So anyone who has grown an expertise in uttering the correct form of the name of anything, he will be able to bring into life the thing whose name he could successfully utter.

The trisyllable A-U-M represents the three gods who are responsible for creation, preservation and dissolution of the universe. The combination whereas, defines Brahman: anyone who has read about the Vedas and the Upanishads. This trisyllable mantra also represents the three states of consciousness, the dreaming stage, the stage of deep sleep and the stage of awakening.

A mantra not always, but sometimes is associated with a yantra. A Yantra is mystical diagram which represents the mantra and usually have diagrams about gods or many physically existing natural objects like sun, moon, stars etc.

Mantras are uttered in a rhythmic repetition, which is also known as japa. Many types of mantras are used and they are uttered in a rhythmic pattern. Some are in one line and some are only a word; but there are mantras which are somewhat longer. Due to recent development we can easily get mantras in CD or DVD. We can get it even in the internet and buy them in order to listen to the magical power they possess in them.
