Nowadays, plastic lines made of polyethylene are used instead of copper for this purpose.
In industries these plastic lines are given a special name known as PEX which are prepared by cross linking polyethylene molecules with each other.
This provides strength to the plastic pipes.
Plastic has some advantages over metallic pipes.

Plastic pipes are also placed under concrete but they do not corrode which makes them long lasting.
So, plastic pipes provide better plumbing supply than the copper pipes.
As this is new technology so the only disadvantage present is the lack of training in its installation.
Most of the technicians are not trained to install plastic pipes as they have spent years and years in installing copper pipes, which is a totally different procedure.
