Before you can get your hands on this hefty salary, however, there is the small detail of becoming a medical doctor. An anesthesiologist is a doctor who specializes in anesthesia, and needs to be licensed to practice this specialty on top of being qualified as a doctor. An actuary needs to have a sound grasp of economics, statistics and applied mathematics to perform her job well.
