How to Measure for a Miniature Horse Harness

    • 1). Clean the area where the measuring will take place. Sweep hard surfaces such as concrete, rake dirt surfaces.

    • 2). Halter the miniature horse and put it on cross-ties, if available. If there are no cross-ties, have an assistant hold the miniature horse still with a lead rope.

    • 3). Measure for the bridle. Start the tape measure at the corner of the mouth, continue along the cheek and over the ears, and end at the other side of the mouth. Write down each measurement as you complete it.

    • 4). Measure the girth behind the withers. Measure the length of the miniature horse, from where the harness saddle sits behind the withers to the dock of the tail. Again, write the numbers down immediately to insure accuracy.

    • 5). Measure the miniature horse again to make sure the numbers are accurate. With a miniature horse, an inch or two can make the difference between a harness that fits properly and one that does not.
