Believe it or not, the more I think about affiliate marketing, the more it is similar to the tortoise and hare fable.
Don't get me wrong, it is still possible to make money quickly but if you underestimate your competitions and sleep while not yet reaching the finish line, they may take your lunch and eat it too.
If you ask me, I'd rather be a tortoise rather than hare.
Endurance, consistency and persistence are more critical traits of every successful affiliate marketer.
Everyone is going out to find something that tells them to do this, and this, and that.
How to get to the finish line in the shortest amount of time possible.
The thing is, those who move fast also don't see what they need to see.
How could you see it if you are moving a thousand miles a second? When tortoise positions itself by looking at the little pieces in the market that are under served, the hare moves quickly pass them.
They think all they need is to get to the finish line.
The thing is, what is the finish line? For them, it is very likely making a hundred dollar in the niche.
After that, just rinse and repeat in another niche.
Repeat this procedure often and build revenue that way.
They also jump from one system to another because one model that they follow today may go away tomorrow.
There is no leverage at all.
On the other hand, the tortoise has become a leader in the small niche.
Everyone wants its advice.
It knows everything about the niche inside out.
The tortoise is the expert.
It owns the niche.
When it makes a recommendation on a product, people trust it because it puts their interest above anything else.
Who is going to win in this race? By the time the tortoise has owned the market, the hare is still running at a thousand miles a second, not knowing exactly what to do beyond making a bit of money here and there.
Heck, the hare even needs to speed up because the competitions now know where it saves its gold and begin to rob its fortune.
Meanwhile, the leadership built by the tortoise is hard to beat.
Competitions don't want to touch this niche.
They are stupid if they try.
If they have a better strategy of positioning, they only will live in harmony with the tortoise and become partners instead of directly compete with it.
Isn't it the business you want to build?
