How to Make a Toy Horse Bridle Without Sewing

    • 1). Cut the leather into thin strips. The width of the strips will depend on the scale of the model; for example for a model around 12 inches tall, the strips should be no more than 1/8 inch wide. Cover your work area with newspaper ready for using the glue.

    • 2). Take the first metal ring, and wrap the end of a strip of leather through it, leaving an overlap of 1/4 inch. Spread glue thinly on the very end of the leather strip, and press it into place. You should now have a strap with a ring glued to the end to represent the ring of the horse's bit.

    • 3). Hold the ring by the corner of the toy horse's mouth, and pass the strap over the head behind the ears to form the headstall of the bridle. On the other side of the head, cut the strap off so that when the second ring is fitted, it will also sit by the corner of the horse's mouth. Leave an allowance of 1/4 inch to fold round the ring. Glue the second ring into position.

    • 4). Wrap a leather strip round the toy horse's nose over the rest of the bridle, midway between the eyes and the nostrils to make a noseband. Trim the strip to length and glue it into a loop. Glue it to the headstall at either side of the head.

    • 5). Run a strip of leather over the horse's forehead. At the point where it meets the straps of the headstall running over the horse's head, trim off the excess length and glue it to the headstall on either side, folding the ends round under the headstall for security.

    • 6). Cut a long strip of leather, long enough to reach from one bit ring, over the horse's back and around to the other bit ring for reins. Fold one end of the reins around the bit ring and glue into place. Run the reins over the horse's back and glue them on the other side.
