I found out about this campground when we stopped in once on the way to Mammoth. We fell in love with the place, and we tent camped there in December 2006.

Describe your camping trip:

This campground is owned by the Fort Independence Indians. It is on the west side of Highway 395 North, just past the California Fish Hatchery. There are both full hook-ups for RVers and wonderful shaded spots for tent campers.

Each spot is large and comes with water, fire ring, picnic table and electrical source.

Pros: The bathrooms are beautiful with great shower facilities.

Cons: none

Nearby attractions: Fort Independence Indian Reservation

Further comments:

This is a perfect place to star gaze from, and the view of the Sierra Nevada Range is spectacular.
