- 1). Connect the cooler to the cigarette lighter or 12-volt power outlet of a vehicle with the engine running, to a 12-volt battery connected to a charger or to the optional Coleman DC power supply adapter plugged into a standard household outlet.
- 2). Pre-chill items in your home refrigerator for faster, more efficient cooling in the thermoelectric cooler.
- 3). Place ice substitutes such as sealed reusable cold packs in the cooler to speed up cooling. Do not put real ice in the cooler.
- 4). Allow at least three hours for an empty cooler to cool down to 40 degrees below the outside temperature. A cooler stocked with warm items that have not been pre-chilled will take longer to cool.
- 5). Open vehicle windows slightly to provide ventilation if the cooler is running in a parked car, because thermoelectric coolers generate heat.
