Diet For High Uric Acid - Low Purine Foods

There is a diet for high uric acid that could actually help lower the levels of this acid in our bodies.
Why would you want to lower it? The answer is simple; uric acid in excessive levels can lead to the development of kidney stones and even gout.
Now, I understand that both of these conditions do not happen overnight, and changing your diet will probably not help overnight either.
However, since both of these conditions are associated with intense pain (if you have had either you know it is not something you really want to do again) it might be good to do what you can to control the levels of this acid and prevent another attack.
One of the main things that should change on a diet for high uric acid would be your source of protein.
You will need to avoid meats, especially organ meat proteins and beans.
Chicken, eggs, pastas, nuts, and tofu would be much better choices because they will not raise the levels of acid in your system nearly as much as organ meats and beans will.
You should also avoid green, leafy vegetables like spinach too.
Some of the things that should be included in a diet for high uric acid would be red berries.
Strawberries (fresh or frozen) have been shown to actually reduce the acid level somewhat.
Black cherries (fresh, frozen, juice and even capsules) have been shown to have an even greater effect at reducing the levels than what strawberries do.
In fact, it is now recommended that you get at least one serving of this fruit a day to keep uric acid levels down.
Please keep in mind that you can get it from any of the mentioned forms, though many people like having the convenience of the capsules.
This is just the basic outline of what you should and should not consider as part of a diet for high uric acid.
There is a lot more to it than this, but this should give you a basic idea.
Many people have a hard time with changing the sources of protein.
If you find that you cannot cut out red meats, you should at least moderate how much of it you consume.
Cut down your portion sizes and include it in only one meal a day at the very most.
It would be much better to trim it down to once or twice a week if possible.
