We found this park described in Trailer Life and also at the Tourist Center as we entered the state. We RV camped there in May 2006.
Describe your camping trip:
This is a beautiful park with large and private campsites (especially those on the hillside). The vegetation along the usually dry stream beds is lovely.
Pros: The hiking on the park's balds is truly spectacular, as is the rody garden.
They have a strong Ranger Program with informed and engaging staff. The guided tours and walks are excellent.
Cons: If you like a glass of wine with dinner, stock up before you arrive. Roan is in a dry county.
Nearby attractions: Roan Mountain
Further comments:
We have been two years in a row now and probably will return again.
