- 1). Crawl under the camper and remove the tie bar from the front end of the main tube. The tube runs along the center of the frame, and the bar is connected to the tube with two screws. Remove the screws with a drill to remove the tie bar and expose the inner tube.
- 2). Crawl to the back end of the main tube and remove the two screws holding the spring to the tube. Follow the two smaller tubes that run from the main tube to the back corners of the trailer. Remove the screw from each of the corner positions on the small tubes to access the springs below the lift rods. Repeat this step on the two front corners.
- 3). Pull the springs from the bottom of the corner lift rods and pull the spring that's located on the back side of the main tube. Use needle-nose pliers to grab and remove the springs. Removing the springs frees the cable. Crank the winch or hand-pull the old cable out of the pulley system and through the tubes. Use cable cutters to remove the old cable from the winch.
- 4). Feed one end of the new cable through the cable-keeper hole above the winch spool. Wrap the cable around the spool and hold the end against the main cable to form a loop. Place a cable crimp around the two sections of wire and pinch the crimp with pliers to connect the cable to the winch.
- 5). Run the free end of the cable through the main tube and push it through to the opposite end of the tube. Use force to work the cable through the grease in the tube.
- 6). Pull the cable out the backside of the main tube and wrap it around the pulley that's located in the rear center of the undercarriage. Feed the cable back through the main tube until it comes out the front side.
- 7). Feed the cable through the center hole on the pusher-springs plate. The pusher springs are two springs that are attached to the top front of the main tube. Fold the end of the cable into a small loop and place the cable clamp around it. Press the clamp with pliers to hold the cable in place.
- 8). Replace the corner springs and replace each corner screw. Replace the tie plate on the tube and replace the two tie-plate screws.
