- 1). Purchase a Spanish-English/English-Spanish dictionary at a local bookstore and pick 10 words you would like to learn. It is best to start with Spanish greetings, colors and numbers and work your way up from there. Become familiar with the Spanish alphabet contained in your dictionary and practice the pronunciation and sound of each letter. This ensures you are pronouncing Spanish words correctly.
- 2). Choose 10 words from your Spanish dictionary and practice pronouncing them. Purchase, or borrow from your local library, a Spanish language CD that emphasizes pronunciation. Listen to the CD for the correct pronunciation. Your dictionary should also contain the correct phonetic pronunciation of the word.
- 3). Write your 10 words down and practice speaking them to friends and family. Make sure you understand what each word means and that you are using it in the correct context. Check your Spanish-English dictionary for the definition of the word.
- 4). Keep a running notebook of all Spanish words learned during a month. You should have collected approximately 310 words in a month's time. After learning vocabulary, you may wish to stretch your learning and start practicing how to put together and speak sentences.
