Let’S Visit Europe - Tirana, Albany

The see is deep blue, the mountains are filled with beautiful paths in the forest. Lovely flowers make the view even more beautiful. Does it sound like describing a painting? Well, it's not, there is actually a small country in South-Europe like this, called Albany.
It is located on the Balkan Peninsula bordered by Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Greece and the Adriatic See. Although republic was only proclaimed in 1991, Albany has developed a lot since then. The country is member of the NATO and now wants to join the European Union as well.
Capitol of Albany is Tirana; it has a population of around 400.000, and is the center of the political, economic, and cultural life of the country. The sightseeing in the capitol could be easily done on foot, as the main attractions are located around the Skanderbeg square. The mostly known is maybe the Et'hem Bey-mosque with the Kulla e Sahatit next to it.
In the city are three churches worth to be seen: the ortodox Saint Prokop-, the Madonna-, and the Saint Peter church. Visiting these places and praying there makes every catholic person feel the love towards god. The feeling is indescribable.

Tirana also has a beautiful beach called Durres. But along lying on the beach, you should also enjoy Albany's gastronomy: olives, several fish-dishes, shells, goat, and beef. After the delicious meal you can have a beer, or simply drink a glass of fine wine. Red wines are more popular at this territory, as these mountains are perfect for red wine. Albany has one of the finest wines in Europe, along France and Hungary of course.

Albany's official currency is the Albanian lek. 1 USD is about 103 lek. Discovering Albany and Tirana is recommended for every type of people. Ancient churches, many museums and mosques to see for the culture seeking, amazing routes in the mountains for people who like to take tours not to mention the youth, because they can also spend quality time in Albany.

Doesn't matter, if you want to go sightseeing, hiking, or just lying around on the beach. Albany is worth to go, even if for only a week.
