We found out about this campground when we drove through it while camping at another park, and we RV camped there in July 2008.
Describe your camping trip:
Nice place, we just enjoy the peace and quiet. We have been going there for vacations for several years now and have never been disappointed yet.
Pros: It is on Lake Carlyle, has its reserve spots scattered throughout the park for good selection, and many of them are right on the water.
Sunsets are must sees, and the place is always immaculate with absolutely no place overgrown to prevent seeing the lake.
Cons: We have never had a bad experience there yet, so I can't comment on this question. That's why we choose to return there every year.
Nearby attractions: It is about 40 minutes to St. Louis and each year we take one road trip there. We have visited the Transportation Museum there, the zoo, and the list could go on and on. One place we go to frequently is a little ice cream shop called Scoops in Carlyle. Worth mentioning, because they have old fashioned hand dipped ice cream treats and are very reasonably priced. We will make this a yearly trek as long as it is in existence, and anybody else would too after trying it. One of life's little pleasures!
Further comments: The campground has clean showers, a nice laundry, and is very well groomed and maintained. A very habit forming place to go get away from the real world.
