Carrie Underwood Experiences Lavish Fairytale Wedding

This last week Carrie Underwood tied the knot with her Hockey star fianc?, Mike Fisher. The newlywed couple was joined as man and wife in a wedding ceremony that would put those of most famous fairy tale princesses to shame. It seems charmingly appropriate that Carrie Underwood, who did a song a while back for the Disney princess movie Enchanted, would have her own enchanting and magical fairytale wedding.

Carrie Underwood is a former American Idol winner who went on to become one of the biggest stars in country music. This year she won not only the Country Music Awards for best Female Artist and Country Album, she also won the coveted Entertainer of the Year award for the second time. This makes her not only the first female artist to win it, but also the first female artist to do so multiple times making her a true country music princess.

While there were strong hints of the fairytale theme, the bride was not afraid to put her own mark on the lavish affair. The theme color of the wedding was pink and the happy couple even sneaked some hockey motifs in the table decorations. The couple also put a decidedly southern stamp on their nuptials by having the entire event at the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation resort. The resort hotel is based on the great southern plantations of the pre Civil War period and is located in Greensboro Georgia just 80 miles away from Atlanta.

The bride was radiant in a custom Lhuillier Chantilly lace and satin organza gown with a 40 carat diamond tiara with a classical flower and ivy wreathe motif. The gown was first of two dresses that she wore on her wedding day and the second gown another Lhuillier dress was a shorter strapless dress for the wedding reception. Bother were one of a kind and made just for the occasion. The second gown was made for easier movement with all the dancing and celebrating that went on southern style at the reception. The really amazing story is the tiara. The 40 Carat diamond Tiara was a gift from her future husband Mike and was made by Jonathan Arndt, the same jeweler who designed her yellow diamond engagement ring. The design was kept top secret until the wedding.

The wedding certainly ran at a cost only royalty and of course rock stars and star athletes could foot at a cool $500,000 not including the $200,000 spent to house the families and friends of the bride and groom. This doesn't even include was probably spent on cinderella or fairy tale wedding favors The happy couple was glad to pay the King?s ransom since it allowed both of their large extended families to be part of the special event. However don?t think that the newlyweds forgot to give back. The proceeds from the sale of their wedding photos were donated to charity.

Not one to leave anyone of her loved ones out Carrie included her pet dog in the ceremony dressed in a pink tuxedo. The wedding was one that also made a literally big emphasis on family. The original plan for the happy couple was to have a small intimate wedding with close friends and family. However, Mr. Fisher has a large family and so the lavish wedding with a larger venue became the only viable option. With the nuptials completed the happy couple went on to Tahiti for their honey moon.
