You walk down the street of any fashion forward city - London, New York, Paris, Milan - and you see people braving looks, most of the world wouldn't have the courage or know-how to try. From bright coloured shoes to blazers and shorts, oversized sweaters and ankle trousers, they've picked up on or started trends that keep them on the cusp of the fashion industry. Some signature stylish looks include:

Socks, heels and short skirts:

Short skirts are meant to show off your legs, ankles and toes right? Not necessarily it seems. A lot of stylish young women like to pair their skirts with little socks which they slip into their platform sandals or ballerina pumps. It gives the already girly look an even flirtier feel and is especially well suited to light coloured outfits.

Men in blue suits:

There's something striking about a man in a blue suit. Darker blue is of course more suitable for evening or winter, but light blue suits are absolutely gorgeous in the summer and day. Blues can range from pastel to royal to navy and each looks fabulous with a checked shirt, a classic tie and a handsome pair of cufflinks.

The man's man:

Nothing quite screams 'I'll take care of you' to a woman as much as a man in flannel, rolled up sleeves, construction boots and scruff on his face. These guys might not necessarily care for fashion - they're not that vain - but they're sturdy, fit and look like they could build you a house. For these men flannel will never go out, nor will Chinos, Timberlands, or white v-neck tees. Paint on their hands, a cigarette hanging out of their mouth and a bottle of beer in their hand, these guys are about as man's man as they come.

Short trousers, no socks and loafers:

And for the men who do love fashion, you get the summer suit look of slacks that are ankle short and paired with a stylish pair of loafers or patent leather, lace up, dress shoes. These guys are sure to be found carrying a briefcase, wearing round spectacles and an awesome tie. They probably have a great watch on and a patterned little pocket scarf.

The list does not end there. You've got the men who pair dress shorts with blazers to go to the office in the summer, the women who pair oversized eighties sweaters with tight-fitted maxi skirts to meet their friends for lunch and more.
