Salad is the norm for a ladies' luncheon, but why not move the ingredients into a sandwich and create a surprising experience? Sandwich wraps have gained in popularity lately.
They can be delicious and also overstuffed and very messy.
The first thing to remember is that ladies do not like sticky fingers! So, if you would like to serve some traditional meat, cheese and veggie wraps, make them dainty.
Cut the tortilla in half and use half of the amount of the filling material.
The finished product should be easily consumed in two bites.
Place your mini-wraps, secured with a toothpick, on a platter lined with curly parsley and dotted with plenty of colorful olives.
Next consider a beautiful platter of traditional English tea sandwiches.
Bring back this bygone treat to delight your guests.
Easily made, using thinly sliced bread buttered with unsalted butter and lightly filled with crisp watercress.
Put the sandwich together, cut off the crusts and then slice into thirds.
Repeat with smoked salmon and unsalted butter.
And for a third choice you might use soft Boursin cheese with a thin slice of Granny Smith apple.
These should be small and elegant.
For another selection, serve chicken chutney salad along side another bowl of chilled bibb or Boston lettuce leaves.
Guests will enjoy wrapping a dollop of the chicken mixture into the lettuce leaves for a very refreshing bite and saving some carbs for dessert! Prepare your favorite fruit punch and have an open bottle of champagne in a chilled container next to your stemmed glasses.
Guests can serve themselves and add champagne, if they like.
Purchase lovely, decorated petit fours for a proper sumptuous finish, and no messy fingers, for your ladies' luncheon.
And, remember to enjoy yourself!
