Wildlife
The dense deciduous forest includes trees like sal, bamboo, saja, bija. This tiger reserve, apart from 26 Bengal Tigers, is a home to a large number of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. Mammals include Leopards, Wild Boar, Sloth Bear, Gaur, Sambhar Deer, Barking Dog, Wild Dogs, Hyena, Rhesus Macaque, Indian Giant Squirrel, Indian Rattle, four-horned Antelope, common grey Langur, Chinkara, Nilgai, common Palm Squirrel, Flying Fox, Jungle Cat, Spotted Deer, etc.
A visit to Achanamkar also promises the availability of a variety of birds like black-capped Black Bird. More than 100 species of winter migratory birds are spotted here. 38 species of butterflies have been sighted. Reptiles are also found here. The solitary crocodile in Sihawal Nagar is a special attraction for the tourists.

Watch-towers like Tangli Patha and Diya Barr have been constructed in the reserve to ensure a great view of these wildlife. Favourable Time to Visit
During summer, the Park is quite hot. So November–June is the best time to thoroughly enjoy this tiger reserve.
How to Reach
Roadway : The Sanctuary is 21 kms from Amarkantak and and 56 kms from Bilaspur.
Railway : The nearest railway station is Bilaspur which is about 95 kms and Pendra Road which is about 30 kms from the tiger reserve.
Airway : The nearest airport is Raipur, which is about 200 kms from the park.
