How to Cite an Online Textbook

    • 1). Find the online book's author or authors, book title and place and year of publishing. This can usually be found on the first couple of pages of the online book.

    • 2). Write the citation by putting the author's last name first, then first name and a period. If more than one author, put an author's last name, then first name comma and next authors first and last name.

    • 3). Write the book title, underlined or italicized, followed by a period.

    • 4). Write the city where the book was published followed by a colon and the publishing house followed by a comma and the year published and then a period.

    • 5). Write the date that you accessed the online book in the format of date, month, year (no commas).

    • 6). Write the URL where the online book can be accessed enclosed in ellipses followed by a period.

    • 7). Compare your citation to this one:

      Doe, John. The Textbook's Title. City: Publishing House, 2011. 13 April 2011 <www.yahoo.com>.

      Remember that the textbook title should be underlined or italicized.
