- 1). Contact the county clerk's office in your state. Appear in person to request a list of all arrest warrants issued under your name. The penal code and offense will be listed on the warrant. Provide your Social Security number and current address to establish proof of identity.
- 2). Contact your local sheriff. Government agencies provide online resources related to arrest warrants, arrests, convictions and felonies, criminal driving violations and other public records information. Appear in person or ask if an online request can be made.
- 3). Use a nationwide public records database. Online companies that specialize in collecting arrest warrant information can be found online. Searchsystems.net is a free public records directory; however, membership fees are required for some services. (Additional services are provided to members.)
- 4). Obtain the sheriff department's active arrest warrant or active felony warrant list in your county. Verify the following information: correct spelling of your first and last name, date of birth, last known city and state of residence and charge/offense. The charge will be listed and associated with a specific code. For example, the arrest warrant could list your charge as theft or failure to comply with an officer. An example arrest code could be 64D05-64D050607FD6026.
