How To Write A Great Bio That Gets Results!

Writing a bio (or biography) is a key sub-skill that any internet marketer needs to know and understand.
In article marketing, for instance, the bio is where the link to your website goes.
If you craft your bio right, you'll get plenty of clicks through to your site.
If you do it wrong (which most people do), you'll get fewer clicks through to your site).
Let's learn how to do it right! There's a formula you need to know, if you're going to be a star in internet marketing.
Traffic + Conversions = $Money!!!$ That one little mathematical sentence basically sums up the whole thing.
If you're going to sell anything on the Internet, you need traffic, that is, people looking at your site.
But that's not all you need.
You need a certain percentage of those folks actually clicking on your money link, pulling out their credit cards and buying your product.
That's called conversions, because you're converting your traffic into buyers, which converts into cash for you.
If you're going to sell anything on the Internet, you need to be able to create that traffic! You can do this with search engine optimization (SEO), social bookmarking, pay per click (PPC), article marketing, or any of a number of other ways.
I use several of these ways, but one of my favorites is article marketing.
(You're reading one of my articles, right now!) The way article marketing works is this: you write an article that gets picked up by the search engines.
So, the article comes up on someone's search.
They click on the link, read your article, and...
then what? Since most, if not all, of the main article marketing directories do not allow links in the body of the article, any link to your website or your sales page has to come in the bottom part of the article called the "bio".
You need to be able to write a bio that gets people to naturally click through to your website.
If you've read many articles on sites like EzineArticles, then I bet you've seen a ton of places where the bio has been completely done wrong! You see, most writers of these articles think the bio is a place for them to write about themselves--I mean, it is called a "bio", short for biography, isn't it? No, no, no, and No! I understand that the thing is called a "bio", but that's not how to use it! The single most basic marketing principle that you need to understand and apply to all business situations (heck, even all life situations) is that no one cares about you! I know that sounds harsh, but it's really true.
People only care about themselves.
If it looks like they care about others, it's because that makes them feel better about themselves--in other words, they really do only care about themselves! The bio is not where you showcase all your accolades! No one cares about you, remember! The proper way to write a bio is like this.
  • make it feel like a continuation of the article.
So only put one space between the bio's first line and the article's last line.
  • address the real reason your reader is reading your article in the first place.
Why are they reading your article? To learn! So, say something like...
"If you want to learn more about whatever it is, then click on this link".
  • if you feel like your reader needs a little validation about you, then in the last sentence of the bio put a small, very general sentence about you.
I've got an idea! Why don't you...
