This classic “pinch-waist” style hummingbird feeder is one of the most popular designs for good reason. The feeder’s moderate 8-ounce capacity and ease of use makes it a favorite among backyard birders and hummingbirds alike. The attached perches can easily be removed, and the red cap and base with four flower-shaped feeding ports will attract an entire flock of hungry hummingbirds. The removable bee guards help keep the feeding ports clear of insects, though their yellow color may unfortunately attract bees and wasps.

The feeder’s hardened glass reservoir is sturdy and will not discolor even if placed in the sun, but the narrow mouth can make refilling difficult. This feeder does have a tendency to leak through the feeding ports when tipped, and it is best to hang in a place where there will be no strong breezes.

The wire hanger attached to the feeder’s cap is sturdy and coated with red for additional color to attract hummingbirds, but the wire alone is not sufficient for hanging the feeder in most locations. An additional hook will be required, but then the feeder can easily be hung from branches, garden hooks or gutters.
