It can be very useful to understand the process of converting pounds to kilograms when treating your child's Autism biomedically. Converting pounds to kilograms is very important in determining the right dosage of supplements and medications for your child. So, I will explain you on how the convertion process is being solve.

Many supplements and medications use a milligram per kilogram format for dosing. A lot of medications and supplements require a conversion to kilograms figure out the particular dose. Once you understand the equation you can easily find the right dosage for your child. This is how we do it. The first step is to have your child's weight in pounds and divide by 2.2. This will give you your child's weight in pounds. For example, if your child weighs 40 pounds and you divide by 2.2 you get 18.18 kilograms. You can round this number up to 20 or round it down to 18. Next you need to find the correct dosage for the medication you are giving. That will be written as milligrams (mg) per kilogram (KG) or mg/kg. We will use an example of 25 mg per kilogram. Since we found the child's weight in kilograms to be 18, we multiply that by 25 to find the dosage to be 450 mg.

Again, to convert your child's weight from pounds to kilograms you divide your child's weight by 2.2. Once you have their weight in kilograms you multiply that by the dosage of the medication or supplement to find the proper dosage.
