How to Shut Down a Sprinkler System

    • 1). Locate the main water line that feeds the manifold.

    • 2). Turn the ball valve on the sprinkler supply line a half turn, or until the valve shuts off.

    • 4). Unscrew the small brass valve plug at the base of the vacuum breaker with an adjustable wrench. Water should drain from the breaker.

    • 5). Locate the sprinkler manifold plug on the base or end of the manifold assembly.

    • 6). Remove the plug with adjustable wrench. Water should drain from the manifold.

    • 7). Store the plugs from the vacuum breaker and manifold in a safe place until the system is turned back on.
